Default Ranger/Necro Area Effect Comments?

Sence I started my game with my main I have found I like using area effect skills. My current set up is, Ignite arrow, Punishing Shot, Troll Ugruent, Res Sig(always), Wall Of Blood or something, Putrid Explosion, Deathly Swarm, and my pet. Attributes markemens 12(+2bonus), Death Magic 12, Wilderness Survival 6 or 7, and Expertise 2, Beast Mastery 1. Any comments or ideas to improve my game, how would you rate this on a scale from 1-10 for effectaivness in both quest and PvP play?

Most people use Dual shot w/ ignite arrows to increase damage output a bit.

I know that or Apply Poisen, but I got an idea. For a skill set up.

Skills in order:
Ignite Arrow, Barraige, Troll Ugerunt, Res Sig, Wall Of Blood, Putrid Explosion, Deathly Swarm, Pet Skill thing.

By useing ignite arrow and barraige I increase the damage and deal massive area effetc damage nailing a alot of foes. I may drop troll ugerunt for a shot or leave it. Any thoughts people?

umm yeah read description of barrage it removes all pereparations (thats means it removes apply poison) lol

as for the skill set up try stickn to like 2 attribute set ups atatime not including ur expertise. what i mean is with you doin some blood some death some ranger some expertise some pet and some wild survive. your gunna find out that your overall damage is greatly decreased where as you could like do maybe 10 wild survive 10 pet 10 marksmanshipa dn 10 expertise and do the ole ignite arrows/ tigers furry combo and attack with ignite arrows at 33% faster rate then throwing in dual shot for extra damage then for elite i suggest throwing in poison arrow to spread degen. and ull find it works out quite nicely for damage.

Now I remeber why I didn't go for barriage. I liked the effect punishing shot had but i think I make go pack to Penetrating or Hunter's. Far the ignite / tiger/ poison arrow shot not sure. I don't want a set every ranger uses you know it's seems boring ubt I'll try it and see if I like.

And don't forget that you need to focus in on something...you really don't want to spread you're points thinly. And I love my pet, but you need to invest a good number of points into BM for it to give you any benefit. It's great you're trying to break the cookie cutter cycle...but make sure you don't have yourself to spread out.

Well judgeing from my skill sets
Ignite arrow, Hunter's shot, Troll Ugruent or another shot, Res Sig, Wall Of Blood, Putrid Explosion, Deahtly Sawrm, Pet

How should I place my attribute points to get the most out of my skills? Or do you have any skills set ideas that will be better for area effects?

Well lets see....

You have skills from four attributes, not counting expertise. Marks, Beast, Wilderness, And Death. I'd drop beast for now. As for the others, you'll have to play around with them until you have a nice balance. To be honest, I'd drop Deathly Swarm as well, and use Putrid explosion (and maybe the well) as my only Death skills. You could put most of your points into Marks, decide where you wanted to set your expertise (check the expertise guide they have here) and then spread the rest between WS and death.

How do you have energy for all that? Expertise is low so there's not much reduction for the ranger skills and it doesn't affect spells at all. Spell costs:

Well of Blood - 15
Putrid Explosion - 10
Deathly Swarm - 10

Plus the ranger attacks, prep and Trolls when needed. Even with druids armor you'd be quickly out of energy. Trying to keep with your concept, how about this:

Ranger/Necromancer Level: 20

Expertise: 9 (8+1)
Beast Mastery: 4 (3+1)
Wilderness Survival: 10 (9+1)
Marksmanship: 13 (9+4)
Death Magic: 10

- Apply Poison (Wilderness Survival)
For 24 seconds, foes struck by your physical attacks become Poisoned for 11 seconds.
Energy:9.6 Cast:2 Recharge:12

- Hunter's Shot (Marksmanship)
If Hunter's Shot hits, you strike for +13 damage. If this attack hits a foe that is moving or knocked down, that foe begins Bleeding for 23 seconds.
Energy:3.2 Cast:0 Recharge:5

- Distracting Shot (Expertise)
If Distracting Shot hits, it interrupts target foe's action but deals only 10 damage. If the interrupted action was a skill, that skill is disabled for an additional 20 seconds.
Energy:3.2 Cast:0.5 Recharge:10

- Virulence [Elite] (Death Magic)
If target foe was already suffering from a Condition, that foe suffers from disease, Poison and Weakness for 11 seconds.
Energy:5 Cast:1 Recharge:10

- Putrid Explosion (Death Magic)
The corpse nearest your target explodes, sending out a shockwave that deals 88 damage to nearby foes.
Energy:10 Cast:1 Recharge:5

- Troll Unguent (Wilderness Survival)
For 10 seconds, you gain Health regeneration +8.
Energy:3.2 Cast:3 Recharge:10

---- OR ----

- Soul Feast (Death Magic)
Exploit nearest corpse to steal 203 Health.
Energy:10 Cast:1 Recharge:0

- Charm Animal (Beast Mastery)
Charm target animal. Once charmed, your animal companion will travel with you whenever you have Charm Animal equipped.
Energy:6.4 Cast:10 Recharge:0

- Resurrection Signet ()
Resurrect target party member. That party member is returned to life with 100% Health and 25% Energy. You may use this Signet only once per mission.
Energy:0 Cast:3 Recharge:0

The idea is to get a condition on an enemy then hit them with Virulence. Bleed would be preferrable, but poison would work. Use Putrid as able. Use either Trolls or Soul Feast, but note that you must have a corpse for soul feast, so Trolls may be the better option.

Using Soul feast would also take away the corpses you would need for putrid explosion. And MM's in you're group will hate you!

Well when MM's and I get togather it's more of a quick draw thing and it makes nosence to let you turn a body into a minon in a group of 12 enemies when I can deal 101 to all of them with a single bush of a button. So we usually come to a basic understanding far as energy it runs low but works so how.
